Role of the Board

The role of the Board is to protect the health and safety of the public against misrepresentation, deceit, or fraud in the practice or teaching of barbering. The Board:

• Governs the location and housing of barber shops or schools.
• Governs the quality or equipment, supplies, materials, records, and furnishings required in barber shops or schools.
• Governs the training and supervision of probationary barbers.​
• Governs the qualifications of teachers of barbering.
• Governs the hours and courses of instruction at barber schools.
• Governs the examinations of applicants for barber, probationary barber, or teacher of barbering.

All Board Meetings are held on examination day at 12:00 P.M. EST.   

All applications for examination are due in the board office by 12:00 P.M. EST. on deadline day.
