The license fee to renew your instructor license is $100 renewable in June each year.

How to Become an Instructor

In order to be eligible to take the Instructor Exam you have to have been a licensed barber for 18 months. Instructor Examinations are given monthly as needed during regularly scheduled examinations.   

Once you pass the exam

You are required to work in a Kentucky licensed barber school under a head instructor 400 hours before taking the ​Written, Practical and Oral portions of the Instructor's Examination.

Reach out to the school in your area to set up a meeting to determine availability. (Schools are allowed only two student instructors at any given time).
